Diaphragms for diaphragm type valves and dampeners

The diaphragm materials we use for our diaphragm pulsation dampers, diaphragm safety relief valves and diaphragm back pressure valves mainly including PTFE composite NBR, EPDM, FKM (Viton), PTFE, and etc. and among them, PTFE composite NBR diaphragms are the most widely used.

The side of the diaphragm which will contact with liquids is made of PTFE, while the other side is made of NBR. The PTFE layer offers excellent chemical resistance, effectively resisting strong acids, strong alkalis, solvents, and other corrosive substances. The NBR layer provides good elasticity, flexibility, and wear resistance. When combined, the PTFE layer ensures a corrosion-resistant surface, while the NBR layer absorbs mechanical stress, enhancing pressure resistance and preventing diaphragm rupture or failure under high pressure.

Diaphragms are consumables. To ensure the safety and stable operation of equipment, regular diaphragm replacement is essential.

The replacement cycle of the diaphragm should be dynamically adjusted based on the working environment and operating conditions. Under normal conditions, most diaphragms require replacement every 6 months to 2 years. However, in extreme conditions, more frequent replacements may be necessary. Therefore, it is recommended to keep spare diaphragms on hand to prevent unexpected failures.
